[Pibe-division] Notetaking Skills

Let me explain. This student uses a Victor Stream to take notes. One of our other instructors gave him a recorded article about eye conditions and asked him to take notes. When she asked him what information did he make note of, he had a one sentence response that had no relation to the assignment. When I asked him to take notes on a webinar on creating a positive relationship with your rehabilitation counselor, he simply listened to the webinar and took no notes at all.

He has a notetaker and can use a brailler. The student was not taught to use a slate in school. That is the reason why he is in my class.

Hello Pauline,
I'm a Braille Teacher as well and note taking problems appear frequently. When you say, one sentence recordings, what do you mean?
Do you mean that he copies out the words leaving out the punctuation or do you mean that he copies out the first sentence or skips bits?

Very best wishes,
Sandra.
