[rehab] RSA Rules

RJ,
Bingo! You got it! Only in this state, it's not the counselors, or not
just them. It's the whole shebang. I'm trying again because I keep
hearing all this talk about accountability and responsibility from the
Board...
Yet they have demonstrated so far that they have not taken the one key
step they should have taken years ago... And probably the funding for
the agency is doomed because of it. Sigh.
Still, according to the "I'll believe it when I see it" rule, one must
arrange to be able to see it to determine whether or not to believe it...
Also, I have all these really advanced skills that are highly
marketable, and the market is picking up in my field... Especially for a
contractor/consultant or telecommuter... Only the equipment package,
which my employer was prepared to buy so I could continue working for
them and advancing as I was, is a tad on the spendy side. Since the
agency declared me unemployable before even getting around to what they
called a formal assessment, instead of getting out to my work site to
finish up some details with my employer who was prepared to purchase as
soon as that was taken care of... I now need to have the toolkit here at
home to start picking up work in my field at anywhere close to my skill
level. And income level... Last gig I did here paid $100/hour, using the
low end of my skills; only I needed JAWS 10 (that long ago!) to continue
with the project... So I ended up having to bow out. Which says it all,
because under those circumstances, there is no IPE required, since the
license for JAWS professional is under the spending limit.
So... I'm not very patient with them. Given the cost of the tools I
need, which their people have already agreed I need for my work, and the
value of the skills I can use to earn money in the returning market for
those skills...
I might as well give it a shot and see what happens.
Also, I do my regular market research update and all this time of year
anyway, whether I need to or not, so doing my regular prep for this
won't take any time I would be spending anyway. /lol/ Not much changes,
but I do like to keep track. It is always instructive, also, to observe
the reaction of a VRC from the agency to a consumer who arrives at the
meeting with her homework done and in a nice, neat, well-organized
information packet as if it were some sort of professional project or
something... Then when I remind them of this or that rule which I have
memorized, or pick out that part of the packet by feel of where I put
the stapel or clip...
That's another reason I like to record these meetings. Peole prefer to
think I must be misunderstanding something or being oversensitive when I
describe the response as "hostile.
