LEGO Braille Bricks Preconference Session @ CEC
March 1, 2023 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Kentucky International Convention Center
Ballroom B, Main Concourse
Louisville, Kentucky

Join Marie Oddoux and Marc Angelier of the LEGO Foundation for a CEC preconference LEGO Braille Bricks training session.

Learning braille is crucial for blind and visually impaired children as it allows them to develop a variety of essential life skills, ensuring they experience intellectual freedom, independence, and equal access to education and work. LEGO Braille Bricks is a playful tool that allows children with blindness to learn braille and acquire academic skills through play, and is an inclusive tool for all students.

The pedagogical concept, based on National Education, Expanded Core Curricula, and built on Learning Through Play principles ensures an optimal teaching and learning experience that empowers children to become creative, engaged, lifelong learners. By unlocking the power of play, children can develop the broad set of skills they need to thrive and succeed in the 21st century.

Participants will get a good overview of this new concept of learning braille through play. Each session will be based on different activities. The hands-on session will illustrate Learning Through Play in practice using LEGO Braille Bricks.

Through 3 different modules, attendees will:

*	Discover how LEGO Braille Bricks enable Learning Through Play teaching to blind/VI children
*	Re-imagine learning that integrates a child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative skills
*	Explore and experience first-hand what LEGO Braille Bricks Pre-braille or braille activities are.
*	Learn to use LEGO Braille Bricks to encourage and motivate students through play-based pre-braille or braille activities.
*	Learn how to teach pre-braille/braille in inclusive settings
*	Share learning and ideas
