Streamlining Windows for AT Users
(Assistive Technology Webinar)
Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 10 am to 11 am PT
While there are general default settings in Windows, there are also unique default settings for various brands and models of Windows computers. Contrary to popular belief, one does not have to accept the default configurations if it is not ideal for your specific needs. While this is generally the case, it is especially true when working with assistive technology. Join Ian Ramos and Zhi Huang from Access Ingenuity to discuss some default settings that can cause challenges when working with assistive technology and possible solutions.
Learning Outcomes
* Explain the idea of a turnkey computer for assistive technology.
* Discuss some critical Windows default settings to change.
* Introduce some Windows and Office settings that some may want to customize.
* Explain some specific brand and model defaults you may need a technician to configure.

Envision Glasses: New Features & Upgrades
(Assistive Technology Webinar)
Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 10 am to 11 am PT
The Envision Glasses are quickly becoming an essential tool for the visually impaired. Lightweight glasses with a camera and direct speaker, Envision Glasses speak out text and environmental info, recognize faces, light, and colors, and lets you share that information. Unobtrusive with intuitive design, Envision Glasses excel in all kinds of text recognition, even handwriting, in over 60 languages. This session will focus on some new features available now, which harness the power of GPT-4 by OpenAI, one of the most advanced language models in the world, to understand and answer natural language questions. This new feature brings next-level access by giving users nearly unlimited control over how they interact with the scanned text. Join Ian Ramos from Access Ingenuity on a virtual tour of this technology. We will also have a team member from Envision join us to add valuable insights and maybe even some “insider” information on what’s in store for this technology.
Learning Outcomes
* General overview of the glasses.
* Discussion and demonstration of the new “Ask Envision” feature and others.
* How these glasses impact users at work, school, and home.
* Discussion on what features to look forward to in the coming months.
