Live Photo Feature in the iPhone Camera app: Rita's iDevice Advice for June
10, 2024 How to Hear Live audio in Photos:
When you take a Live Photo, your iPhone or iPad captures the audio and video
1.5 seconds before and 1.5 seconds after you tap the shutter button.
Note: when you are ready to take a picture, instead of finding the "take
picture button on the screen, you can tap the volume up or volume down
button to take the picture. The volume buttons are located on the left side
of the iPhone. Quickly tap one of the volume buttons once, and it will take
the picture
Open the Camera app
By default, the Camera usually opens in "Live Photo" mode, and the back
facing camera is active.
You can turn Off the Live Photo default, in the Settings, under Camera,
under "preserve settings", and turn Live Photo Off.
When Live Photo is On, and you are running VoiceOver, the usual Camera click
sound that tells you that you captured a picture is disabled for the camera
click sound.
Note: If you are using VoiceOver: when the instructions say "Tap on an
item", perform a one finger double tap gesture.
To access the Live Photo features, make sure that your iPhone is not in
Silent mode. In order to hear Live Photo audio, you will need to have your
ringer on.
Open the Photos app.
Select the albums tab on the bottom tab bar.
Select the "Recents" Album.
Find the Live Photo you want to hear and tap it.
Note: when running voiceover, perform a long press action, which is a one
finger double tap, and hold gesture.
To play the Live Photo, tap and hold it. It will automatically play, and you
should be able to hear any sounds associated with the Live Photo.
If you are having trouble hearing your Live Photo, make sure the volume is
turned up and you're not connected to any Bluetooth speakers or headphones.
