Thank you for being on the Sharon's Shortcuts Mailing list.

  _____

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla is a global, non-profit organisation and community, focused on making the Internet open, accessible and private. They are best known for creating the free, open-source Firefox Web browser in 2004, as a faster, more customisable, more private Web browser, which it continues to strive to be today.
Mozilla advocates for user rights, promoting open standards for a healthier web. We admire this philosophy, and we love their logos!

We have decided to spotlight Firefox in our Shortcut of the Week for the next few months. Many of the shortcuts are the same in all the main Web browsers, but there are some that are specific to Firefox, so we will explain this as we go along.
At time of posting, we are using Firefox version 147.0.1, running on Windows 11.

This Week's Shortcut:

Sometimes, when using the Web, you may need to download a file in order to access a document offline or install a new application.
To open downloads in Firefox, press Control + J. This opens a new window, called Library, and you can immediately Arrow Down through your Downloads and press Enter to open one of them. Alternatively, press Shift + F10 on a download to get more options, such as open the Downloads folder, copy, delete, etc.
You can also access your History and Bookmarks from this Library dialogue by pressing Shift + Tab and using the Up and Down Arrows.
Press Alt + F4 to close the Library when finished.

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge also use the Control + J shortcut for accessing the list of Downloads. However, Chrome opens the list in a new tab and Edge opens the list in a notification. In both cases, use Tab to get to the list and move to more options and Arrow Down to get to the Download file that you want.

Of course, on all PCs you can also just press the Windows key and type Downloads to open the list in File Explorer.

You can find these shortcuts and previous shortcuts of the week on the website in the <https://us.list-manage.com/26pFAKc0LvL?e=89232c411c&c2id=6dad4b12106d943ba9b626aa26f28e3c> Shortcut of the Week section. As always, if you would like to find out or share a particular shortcut for an everyday task on your PC, please get in touch!

Stay safe and well and have a great week!
