Kelly,

I'm with you and going through that issue of parting with bikes. It's never
easy. Each bike has it's own stories and memories. I too spend most of my
time on a little Trekk on the trainer in my home. It is certanly not the
same but I do like being able to shift and then do intervals and things when
I want, however you never can generate that race feeling of being in a pack
and jumping when someone makes a break away. You know it's that moment that
the event doesn't process, you just go cause you know it is now or never or
you lose that precious wheel to draft off.

Or, how about those times of working together in a small group to bridge up
to the breakaway riding a paceline and taking your pull.

The good ole days.

I vote to keep a couple bikes around so you don't rule out any
opportunities, and maybe you'll find someone who thinks tandem riding is
awesome. If you find the right partner, you guys can shut the rest of them
down and dispell a bunch of myths about tandems being doggie or slow to
climb or accelerate, etc. Sometime, just the extra turbo boost from the
stoker at a stoplight can make all the difference.

For now, I'll be watching the Tour de France. And Paralympic track nationals
is in CA right now and I know there are a couple of blind riders. And I know
there was one blind rider in Masters Road championships. I'd like to see
numbers grow.

Keep spinning...
Lori
