My name is Tina Hansen, and I've signed onto this list because I want to engage in a physocally active lifestyle, but am needing some suggestions on how to do it.

I am a member of a local fitness center, and since I want to start slow, I usually go out there a couple days a week to ride the stationary bikes. I recognize, though, that I also want to start strength training.

Since I live in an apartment, it's not practical to buy any high tech exercise equipment due to lack of space.

My budget is such that I can't afford a personal trainer at the moment, but I haven't ruled that out.

I do have a stability ball and a medicine ball that I am thinking about using, but may need suggestions on how to use them effectively and safely. These can be stored when I don't need them.

I am also looking into Pilates, but would need someone to show me the moves physically, or if I can't do that, a good recording with descriptions and explanations. I know that many audio resources come with booklets which only add to the problem, since I'd need a reader. Most videos are probably not all that great.

If anyone has found a way to work with their local fitness center to get one on one instructions, I'd like to hear about it.

One idea I may look into is having someone from my local fitness center address my NFB chapter and/or affiliate, and maybe we might sponsor something for the community.

Finally, one thing I have noticed when I work out is that music keeps the momentum going. I've tried audio books while working out, but that didn't do as well for me; it just slowed me down.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what makes a good workout playlist and how to create one? If you do pilates, what kind of music works best?

Any suggestions on these topics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
