Hay LM,
Thats true. Working out and then trying to sleep is just not a great
practise. Your endorfins are pumping and you are energized so of course you
are not going to sleep well.
If you can do it late why not just go to bed a bit earlier and squeeze out a
little workout first thing in the AM? An early workout on an empty stomech
will burn more stored fat and get you energized for your day. For me, if
its not in the morning it just doesn't happen. I find my head is the
clearest in the morning none of the BS and stress of the day to bog me down.
But thats just me. And early workouts have been a 20+ year habit
I have been getting into kettlebell training alot lately and the movements
are mostly big movements that involve most if not all the major muscle
groups at one time additionally they stimulate your nervous system and get
your heart pumping. The result being both increasing strength and burning
fat at the same time. 20-30 minutes of hard kettlebell swings and
snatches is about all anyone could ever need to stay in great shape.
The trend in the fittness comunity lately has been leaning twords higher
intensity workouts with less isolated movements and more "full body"
movements. The nature of this type of training makes it impossable to do
hours of it. If anything it would be counterproductive and potentially
harmful. I know you could squeeze out a half hour in the AM before the baby
and your husband get up. It would be your time just for you that you would
be assured you get no matter what the rest of the day brings.
