Steve used to have a personal training studio and a BJJ studio in the
Philadelphia area but he sold everything(and I do mean everything)and
travels around doing BJJ, kettlebell and mobility workshops. He was in
Oslow, Norway when we recorded that interview.
The kettlebell swing is really the most important movement to know. If you
have it down learning the rest is pretty simple. The only other movement
that's a must for you to learn is the Turkish getup.
Sounds like they are investing a lot into some very good stuff for your gym.
Working with the sleds will give you fantastic overall power. You will be
able to pretty much dump most if not all of your conventional cardio if you
put in some hard work dragging or pushing a sled.

I will check out the interviews and the primary reason for acquiring more
certs is because for some reason Americans like to see letters behind names.
Simple and shallow, yes, but somehow they tend to look favorably upon those
who have invested more in education. Honestly, I've learned more in the past
year just asking my coach a bunch of questions and filing his response away
in my memory. We don't have a lot of the bodybuilding competitions out here
that they have out on the East Coast. Some, but nowhere near the frequency.
My hope is to travel to Burlington sometime this fall and hang out with
Andrew and some of the other trainers there for a bit, many of them IFPA
champions.

Steve, does he teach somewhere in Jersey? I heard there was a guy there who
was the first American to receive his black belt. I've only been practicing
BJJ since early November last year, but have fallen in love with it. The gym
I attend is moving in a bunch of new equipment, including a TRX, astroturf
with sleds, etc, so I'm looking forward to trying some new stuff out soon.
Kettle bells, I've done some work with them, but really only know the basic
swing. BJJ requires a lot of core strength, so I imagine that is why they
are so popular.
