Rachel,
You're not alone, a heck of a lot of folks are struggling with motivation.
I get into a rut myself, from time to time.
I was once a sighted runner, but I'm now totally blind and deaf.

I've been going to my local fitness gym only 2 blocks from here for 8 years
now.
I am the only deaf blind guy in this gym.
It took a few weeks to memorize the entire layout of the gym, I am now
independent and get around by myself.
I was in terrible fitness and poor shape 8 years ago, worked at it almost
every day.
I have completed 3 full marathons as a deaf blind runner with guides, since
May 2012.

Stick with it Rachel, chat about your daily progress.
Find walking buddies, fitness minded friends, neighbors, family members.
There are walking and jogging clubs in every town and neighborhood.

I love to read about fitness and running.
It keeps me focussed and motivated.

I can share a few articles with you.
Just email me.

Subject: [Sportsandrec] Finding motivation

A few years ago I was motivated to try something that I had never done
before, running. My cousin said that she could do it so anyone could. I
loved spending time with her so I gave it a shot despite not having an
athletic bone in my body.

The next thing I knew we were signed up for a half marathon. By the time of
the race I ran 11 miles without a walk break.

Then my partners running stamina fell apart and the race didn't go well but
I had a great time.

I have gotten away from running. More recently, I am struggling to find the
motivation to take a walk.

My question to the list is how do you find the motivation to take that first
step? What kinds of things do you tell yourself when the decision to workout
seems like a choice between walking on glass and staying under a nice warm
blanket?

Warmly,
Rachel Kuntz
