C. S. Lewis has been one of my favorite writers for years. As most
people are, I was initially introduced to him through the Chronicles of
Narnia, and I've been reading him for years. In fact, the quote at the
end of my signiture is a Lewis quote. Lynda, Til We Havve Faces is one
of my all-time favorites. It's Lewis's retelling of A Greek myth about
Psyche and Cupid, but it's told completely in the perspective of her
sister, Orual. It's so beautifully written. And a point of interest, it
was conceived long before Lewis converted to Christianity but completed
after his conversion. I read it much too young, not fully understanding
all the themes and motifs; I was about nine the first time I read it but
have read it several times since, grin. During my first stint at
university, I took a class on the writings of C. S. Lewis and loved it.
The prof. was even an old, codgey type you'd expect to teach a class on
Lewis, smile! We read The Magician's Nephew and The Last Battle, both
from the Narnia series, Mere Christianity, Til We Have Faces and the
Prelandra series.
Sincerely,
