[stylist] Reading audio books

I'm not much for reading Braille books unless they're knitting patterns. I
had been reading Syndicated Columnists in Braille from National Braille
Press until my carpal tunnel syndrome got so bad I couldn't deal with it. I
taught myself Braille after college. I should have learned in elementary
school, but they wanted me to be sighted. Anyway, I'm thinking about getting
my hands fixed, so maybe after that I'll get back into reading Braille. For
now, I love my little Booksense and the NLS books. Occasionally, I download
something from Learning Ally, but their new download manager isn't entirely
accessible with Jaws -- you can use it, if someone tells you the tricks, but
I think it's really bogus that they couldn't make something that really
works. I also belong to Bookshare. I read mostly before bed or late in the
day while knitting.

I prefer audio, either commercial or NLS
versions. I do appreciate the Samantha
versions of DTB text read on Mr. Vic Stream
too, but opt for the former when I can. I do most
all my reading on Vic though I've got an iThing.
... Nerve issue due to a nasty winter fall affected
my Braille ability of any decent amount. I
really wasn't much for long reading bouts anyway.
My bad I know. I didn't learn it until my late
twenties and didn't use it much until my
mid-30's. I fall asleep trying to read Braille,
but use it for office stuff for sure. . Me and
Vic, we be mates 'grin', he goes with me to mow
lawn, rake lawn, grill dinner, set on the swing
out back, vacuum, fold clothes, wash floors,
whatever, he's a good little worker.
