Wow!  That came to an abrupt end!  That was a very fascinating story.  I 
enjoyed it.
Only one thing, I think you wrote "though" instead of "thought" in a few 
places.  I just did a read-all of it so can't tell you exactly where they 
were.

I am attaching a story I submitted several years ago to the writer's 
contest.

Recently, I used it in a writer's workshop at Balticon (a local science 
fiction convention); we read the first few paragraphs of our work; then we 
went out and savaged each others stuff in the spirit of constructive 
criticism.  As a result, I decided to clean the story up and hope to send it 
out to magazines in the near future.
