[stylist] Today's writing

Hi Barbara,

I need to read Bird by bird; thanks for bringing that up as it reminded me.
Everyone has their own style of writing and I think yours is fine. I
wouldn't worry too much about the word count. But you might try this. Set
asside a certain amount of time a day to write. Just write free form; write
what comes to mind and later you can take some thoughts and structure it
into something. This is free writing.

I bet you will come up with that 300 words but if not, just write some and
be creative. I keep a journal and online blog and I'm trying to update the
blog more. So, if no ideas come, you can write about your memories; we all
have them and can tell about events and life from our own perspective..

I shall try Anne--is it Lammet--the "Bird By Bird" author's idea of writing
at least 300 words a day. Don't know how I'll accomplish this because I'm
not really a doodler. I have greatly enjoyed her book but am sad to realize
I'll not be much of a writer because I have no sense of humor. LOL!
Seriously, I do need to lighten up, though. My friends would all tell you
that I'm not the kind to shoot the breeze with but if you want deep
conversation, I'm your girl.
Maybe that's why my poetry is so, what Bridgit calls whimsical.
I have so enjoyed the writings contributed on this list because they are so
varied and are fresh voices.
Now what I need to work on is really how to critique someone's work instead
of just telling them I like it or it's cute.
Does one accomplish this by just saying how the piece could ring more true
for you if only you'd just ...
Barbara

Today, I am working on writing a poem using information that arrived in my
in-box this morning. I have one email address that I use for all purchases
and business things. This way, all that stuff arrives in only one of my
email addresses and I can capture it and delete it quickly. This is the
email address that I decided to use for gathering images and ideas today -
we'll see where it goes! I have visited each of the emails in this
particular box this morning and gleaned images from each, and then after I
have breakfast I will begin sifting through the texts and see where it might
go in a poem. Yikes, there is so much! The Overwhelming Mail!
