[stylist] smash words - cover art?

Chris,
You just load the .jpg file onto your project page. It has to be no bigger
than 2 mb. As far as cropping afterwards, I don't remember seeing that
option. I used a Jpeg of the front cover of my print edition, which was a 6"
x 9" format.

Also, one other thing. Just because you use Smashwords, that doesn't mean
you can't do other things. You have a non-exclusive agreement with them.
Like I said, I did Kindle and Nook separately and let Smashwords do the
rest. I was going to do Apple myself until I tried and then read all kinds
of complaints writers had about their site. And, no matter what Smashwords
does or doesn't do for you, you always have the choice of having all of the
formats (including the .mobi for Kindle) available for sale on the
Smashwords site.
HTH,
Donna

Subject: [stylist] smash words - cover art?

Donna and/or Phyllis are probably the ones to answer my question, but I
thought the group may benefit as well.

I'm considering self-publishing my novel, and smashwords does seem to offer
the best option--meaning making the book available in many formats for all
devices. I have a couple artist friends who would be willing to do my cover
artwork. How do you load the cover art? Do they take a picture and you load
it as a jpg file? Can you crop the picture once it's loaded?

Thanks,

chris
