[stylist] For what it's worth: Poetic prose post

That's a very interesting take on the piece. I have no problem with
anyone taking their own interpretation upon the piece. I wrote it in a
very emotive state years ago, so perhaps it has different meaning now.

My use of the religious symbolism and imagery wasn't employed due to a
personal belief in one faith. It's just commonly-known symbolism that
seemed to fit the specific imagery I was going for. A sacrifice expected
without consent, life dealing blows no matter what, the fragility of
life, bearing burdens almost unbearable... If anything, I see the way in
which I use this symbolism as a statement that faith isn't a great
consoler or bringer of peace and joy. But at the time, I think I was
just grasping at the imagery to put in prose what I was struggling with
internally.

Thanks again.

Bridgit

Bridgit,

Now that I know what the piece is about, my initial interpretation seems
way
off base. But what I was thinking was of how sick you were as you lost
your
sight (into the darkness...) and the turmoil, the pain, and the hope
that
you must have had at that time. The pagan and Christian symbolism didn't

mean anything to me, except that perhaps you were paying a very deep
price.
So I was sort of on the right path, but sort of not. And that's pretty
much
how I roll.
