Hi Bridgit,
Thanks so much for this information. I'm starting to realize that some of the "memoirs" I have read in the past are mistakenly categorized as such, and should actually be classed as autobiographies.
Taking the memoir class has inspired me to toy around with this genre. I just have another question for you: What do you do when you want to write about events relating to a person in a less-than-positive way, such as writing about someone who hurt you and reflecting on these experiences? I know you can change names, but once published, I'm sure many people in your life who read it will know who you're talking about.
Thanks,
Vejas

This essay has taken years to complete, and I had a fantastic editor at Random Sample Review to help polish the edges. Excerpts from this essay have been published a few times, but I'm glad to finally see it in its entirety. I was told prostetics would be cosmetic, because, for me, there's no medical reason to have them. It simply would give me shape back to my eyes.
