Hi all,

This poem was written after a few diversity seminars. The context is that I
struggle with wanting to be a part of the diversity solution but often feel
because of being white, I find myself afraid to join in even though my heart
aches to help.

Thanks for reading.

On the inside

By Ann Chiappetta

White on the surface

Experience-tinted

Female- Pigmented

Painted with blind, somber Hues

I met Ugliness

Who yelled

Threatened

rejected

and Spat.

Fear is Shame; shame is fear.

Words pressed with plastic keys

Are the hope released

Dispersed in the collective atmosphere.
