Hi Julie,

I interacted with Carl both when I was a student at IBSSS and one summer 
session there, must have been the one before I attended which you did 
also.

I was already introduced to ham radio when I met Carl, but he indeed took 
off with the hobby and it ended up enriching his life.

Carl did indeed have a strange childhood, won't go into details, but know 
something about it.
I met his family in early adulthood and can understand.

He was a good friend for many years.  I sort of lost track of him, and saw 
his obit in the national ham radio magazine, and passed the info on to Bob 
Ray who followed up.  I should have kept better track of my old friend in 
our later years.  He was indeed a friend of mine, and in some ways I can 
say a mentor.
