[Trainer-talk] Weird interaction between my JAWS and Facebook

Jim,

I haven't used JAWS 10 with Facebook, but here is what comes to mind.

You probably already know this, but JFW does have the ability to detect
when a Web site has a certain tag or flag set for a specific language
and can then change to that language voice. As an example, certain
UK-based sites are tagged for British English as opposed to U.S.
English. This, visually, makes no difference to the sighted user but if
JAWS is aware of this then it will switch to the British English voice.
For whatever reason, JAWS is somehow detecting that your Facebook.com
site is set for some other language and I'm not sure why this is
happening. I would just go into the Configuration Manager and disable
the detect languages checkbox as well as the detection of dialects. It
might be located in the text processing or HTML options; I can't
remember and I don't have JAWS in front of me to check. You could also
use the insert-shift-V setting to disable this while you're on Facebook,
which would disable this feature just on the current page.

Good luck.
