Bryan, I totally agree with you.  System Access is certainly a good 
program for people on a low budget whose main interest is using the 
Internet and performing word processing skills.  However, I also feel 
compelled to put a good word in for NVDA.  While this screen reader 
lacks many of the powerful features found in the more expensive screen 
readers I feel it is ideal for many home users.  It supports Web page 
navigation with Firefox and Internet Explorer, should work with most 
popular email packages and has many nice configuration options.  While 
the default voice may sound strange the voice can be easily configured 
and made to sound quite pleasant.
