You can do this by changing the style set to Word 2003 and saving it as the
default.
1. Open the Home ribbon (ALT-H) and activate the Change Style Command (G) 2.
Within the drop down list, Activate "Style Set"
3. In the list, press ENTER on "Word 2003"
The current document is now set to the Word 2003 style set which includes
the single spacing. Now save it as the default:
1. Open the Home ribbon (ALT-H) and activate the Change Style Command (G) 2.
Within the drop down list, Activate "Set as Default"
You're done and all future documents will be single spaced.
