Sarah,

In my experience with Macs, VoiceOver is not compatible with Microsoft Office at all, which means the Focus 40 will not be able to send commands to it.

The last time I checked, someone (Apple, Microsoft, a forum, I don't remember) was saying that Microsoft was working on a version that *would* be compatible with VoiceOver, coming in 2016.  I don't know if that means this latest version of Office that you have is compatible, but it's very possible.  I haven't tried it.

When you open a Word document, are you able to read the text on the Focus 40?  If so, that already seems more compatible than I've found Office in my experience.  If not, it may mean the compatibility issues are not resolved.

For my students, I've had to recommend using Pages instead.  But I do hope you find the newest version is, in fact, compatible.

   Good evening. I have a Macbook Pro I purchased in 2013. I sometimes use my focus 40 blue with the Mac. Is there a commands list for using a Mac with a Braille display? I recently installed Microsoft office 2016 and would especially like to know how to write and edit word documents. How do you go to the top or bottom of a word document? Is one part of the six pack the arrow keys, and do you have to use the function key to perform tasks such as saving or double-spacing a document? How do you save documents created on a Mac to dropbox or a flash drive? Is the Mac I have sufficient for what I need to do, or should I buy the new Macbook? Thank you.
