Hi Again
Denise, That's a wonderful idea I hadn't thought of. At this point, he doesn't even use his note-taker for this purpose. Do you know of examples of people doing this or resources I can use to get started? At this point, I am writing my own curriculum.
Bridget, can you elaborate on "Zac screen reader?" I'm afraid I don't know what that is. Right now I am working with Jaws and a focus Braille display. I should mention, the main reason this came up is because the student wants to take online classes and his note-takers are incapable of loading the learning management system, LMS.
Thanks

Alex
You can teach him how to use the Jaws voice as HIS voice when he wants to speak to sighted people, give presentations, do life. He can either type or braille his response, hence the reason to teach him English and not just ASL. It is a huge advantage Denise

Hi Alex,
I use the Focus from Freedom Scientific.
I will tell you I'm not an expert, but I can get by with the basics.
If your student knows how to use Zac screen reader they can use the qwerty while reading the braille one handed. Most of the navigation is not lengthy and should not slow him down reading with one hand but there is a learning curve.
Hopefully he can learn the navigation buttons on the display better then me so he can go faster.
Best,
Bridget
