I think this helps not only for those who have lost vision later on in life, but for most blind students who will be interacting with sighted users. I often tell my grate  grandma  "click the start button in the bottom left” (she is not technologically advanced, it’s not a computer to her but a confuser)
and it helps me taler communicating computer skills with people who wouldn’t normally use the keyboard.
