Hello,

Interesting.
I've consider4ed certification if I make assistive tech my career.
There is the Catis certification and this one.

How much does IAAPcost and has anyone attained the less technical first
level certification?
If so, how did you study and what materials or college course work helped
you prepare?

Ashley

I don't know about the certification at this time, but I have a colleague
who has joined IAAP and finds its content and forums invaluable for
furthering his knowledge of what is currently happening in the field, and
having an outlet for making his own name known as he is able to help answer
the questions of others who are not as knowledgeable as he is. As web
testing is not my favorite place to play, I don't personally feel the need
to be a member. I am able to find enough resources for the types of teaching
and training I do concerning web accessibility without going down that
technical road, but my focus has always been a little more on the basic
crowd, and user experience. I think in the end it comes down to what place
in that ecosystem you want to hold. If you are really going for testing or
development, I'd look seriously at membership, and at least first level
certification, but if you are looking at the greater, more abstract
concepts, maybe it won't be as necessary.
