That is the setting I couldn’t remember the name of. Pretty sure it’s under miscellaneous as David said, in the default configuration of the setting center.

In later versions of JAWS an option was added to Settings Center titled, "Start Menu: Access Out of Process" which can be found in the default settings. I don't know if this option was available in JAWS 18. I doubt that it was but it won't hurt to check. I'd be interested to see if enabling this setting in a JAWS 2021 demo would improve the behavior. Can your student afford $95 for a JAWS Home Annual license for one year?

Greetings all:

One of my students is using a Windows 10 machine with jaws 18. She can't afford to pay for the full upgrade right now.

The issue we're having is that she cannot get anything down using her start menu. When she presses the windows key, she gets the search box, but nothing comes up when she types it in.

If we try to go to settings using Sindows+X it reports nothing on the screen other than repeating tab tab tab The jaws issue only came up recently.  Any ideas?
