Hello, very often with older versions of Outlook the solution is to either
disable the more secure apps feature from the Google security settings from
a web browser. I don't recommend this. The second option is to enable
two-factor authentication. If you enable to factor authentication, it means
that whenever you sign into your Google or Gmail account from a new device,
you will get a text message or you will be prompted to enter a six-digit
one-time code from an authentication app, like one password or Google
authenticator. The benefit of having a two-factor authentication system in
place is that you can generate program specific passwords. You would then
generate one specifically for your version of Outlook and use it for that
program only. You do not need to remember this password since if you forget
it or if you need to reconfigure, you can always regenerate a new one. This
way, you don't ever put in your real Google password into Outlook. I hope
this helps.
