Subject: Assistance During your Travel and Tourism Meeting on Sunday
Cheryl,
I hope this message
finds you doing well. I am in need of your help. We have a deafblind woman
coming to the convention who requires someone to type for her on a wireless
keyboard so she can gain access via a Braille display. The only hole we have in
the schedule is your travel and tourism meeting on Sunday. Do you think you
could find one or more people who plan to be at your meeting who could help?
Please see the below announcement we have been distributing. As I say, we have
other convention times covered, it looks like it is just your meeting that we do
not have volunteers for at the moment. People who plan to be at the meeting
anyway would be great candidates. Can you please help stir up some good
people?
Mark
--------------
We are seeking good typists to facilitate access for a
deaf-blind law student who will be attending the national convention. Prior
experience with real-time transcription services or deaf-blind communication is
not necessary. Typists would use a standard QWERTY keyboard that would be
wirelessly connected to a BrailleNote. Some multi-tasking is required for
typists because they would need to be able to listen to a speaker and type at
the same time.
We are looking for several good typists to provide
transcription support throughout the convention. If you are willing to help,
please contact Beth Braun at bbraun at nfb.org or by calling 410-659-9314 ex. 2369.
