[vendtalk] Square register card reader and audio splitter

It does, but the stand does not have the chip reading capability yet, and the client wants that. If not for that, I would have used the stand and a Bluetooth headset or just bored the locking hole out enough to allow an audio cable to pass through it and plug into the iPad. The Stand is a nice option for hardware, but has some limitations.

So wouldn't the Square stand allow you to use Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is not working out in this case. I have a Bluetooth receipt printer and a Bluetooth speaker, and both work just fine. The moment I plug in the Square reader, the iPad says Headphone plugged in and will not send any sound to the speaker.
What I am smacking up against is addressed by the following quote from the Square support page:
“VoiceOver is not compatible while the Square Reader is plugged directly into the headset jack. However, you can use an audio channel splitter and headphones to allow VoiceOver to work while the Square Reader is plugged in. Additional information about the use of audio channel splitters can be obtained through The National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts.”
Square was unable to tell me what audio channel splitter actually worked and referred me to NFBMA. NFBMA was unable to provide me with that information and referred me to this listserv.
Since using Square as a solution seems dead in the water, what iPad based chip card reading options have been shown to work with VoiceOver?

If no one comes up with a better idea I would look into using a Bluetooth receiver like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Receiver-LDesign-Hands-free-Streaming/dp/B015OA18UQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1443817597&sr=8-3-spons&keywords=bluetooth+receiver&psc=1
You would stream from the iPad to the receiver and plug it into the mixer.

The problem with the stand is the audio port is used as a lock to hold the iPad in place. You can't plug any audio devices into it without drilling the hole larger.

Square sells a stand for the iPad that I believe doesn't use the audio jack to interface which would allow you to do as you describe, but the interface should be verified.

Can anyone please tell me what brand audio splitter will allow me to set up an iPad with both a Square card reader and a wired headphone output at the same time? Square support has yold me what I want to do works, but has been unable to provide me with info to make it work! They referred me to NFBMA, who then referred me to this listserv.
I want to set up a register system for a client using two iOS devices - one is the register and the other runs a money recognizer program. Both will output sound to an audio mixer which allows one earphone to be used by the client to hear both devices without distraction.
No splitter I have tried works, all I get is a clicking audio.
Thank you!
