In OE, go to "manage identities" if you want to make a different identity
the deefault.
It takes a little tabbing around, but it is all accessible.
As for the shortcut, open the start menu and go to all programs and find
outlook express, but don't activate it -- instead, hit the applications key
to call up the context menu. The first item is "open" -- but if you arrow
down a bit you will see "create a shortcut". You can go from there.

But rereading your mail, do you really want to create a new identity? or
would you rather just create a new account within the same identity? You can
have multiple accounts in the same identity. You can get to the accounts on
the tools menu inside OE. If you need help with this procedure, let me know
and I'll assist. I unfortunately have spent many long hours learning the
ins and outs of OE and think I have a good enough understanding to help do
most anything it is capable of.
Have fun...*smile*

Subject: [nfbcs] 2 more questions re Outlook Express

I am trying to set up Outlook Express on my husband's new machine. I made
a mistake on the Main Identity. I need to change pop3 to imap, and can't
find anywhere to do it. I set up a second identity properly, but it's
still taking Main Identity as the default, and so not getting his email.
How can I change the Main Identity to use imap, or make the second
identity the default? I've asked at work, but no one can help me there.

And, duh, how do I put a shortcut on the desktop? Outlook Express is on
the start menu, but the man finds that a bit confusing. I want to put a
shortcut on the desktop, but can't seem to be able to get to the
Properties to do it. I tried looking it up in Windows Help, but it just
burbles about drag and drop. I've never found any useful info in Windows
Help.
Thanks.
Tracy
