If you can run the program directly on Unix or Linux you may have better
luck using an SSH program on either Windows or Mac.
I believe there are a number of SSH solutions that are accessible to windows
screen readers.
The Mac Terminal program is totally accessible to the native Voiceover
screen reader for use as an SSH client on the Mac.
