[nfbcs] How do I learn Swift?

Hi Mike!

I just got Swift Playgrounds but I'm having issues with it. My
character gets stuck in the first "learn to code" game. When this
happens, I repeatedly issue the command turnLeft() and each time it
reports that my char is facing south. I can't move and have to start
the game over.

I can ask my employer to pay for a few hours of training if I need to,
but I'm not sure I need it yet.

I've now read a lot of Swift code examples but how do I now write and
run programs? XCode is a big confusing IDE. Can I just write them in
emacs or whatever and run commands from the shell?
