I think the judge would have slapped the thief on the wrist had he 
apologized. I'll bet he's kicking himself now. He'll have five years to 
think about his mistake.

Unrepentant thief!






Ben, my name is Eric Calhoun, and I am blind.  I am not vulnerable, 
either.
 I had a similar experience, too: A Hispanic gentleman beat me for
tapping
my cane on trees out here in Pasadena, home of the Rose Parade and the 
Rose
Bowl.  I yelled out, "Police!!!!!" and the guy fled.  I was on my way to
the Pasadena, (California,) Public Library, when I was accosted!  Nothing
was stolen from me; but my confidence was temporalily stolen from me.

As a blind citizen of America, and a member of the American Council of
the Blind, I am relieved that justice has been served.  What an 
unrepentent
thief!
