THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF NEBRASKA

CORDIALLY INVITES YOU TO THE

2020 VIRTUAL STATE CONVENTION

When – October 23-24

Where – Anywhere and Everywhere

In order to protect the health and safety of members, presenters and
convention attendees, the 2020 National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska
State Convention will be virtual. There will be no cost for registration.
So, if you have never attended a state convention due to cost or
transportation barriers, this is your year! Attend the convention from the
comfort of your home, totally free! We will be hosting all meetings,
breakouts and the banquet on the Zoom conferencing platform.

The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska is excited to celebrate
our fiftieth year with this opportunity to welcome the blind of Nebraska
from points near and far as we celebrate the past 50 years of
accomplishments and make plans for collective action and dreaming together
what we can accomplish in the next 50.

The celebration gets under way with rookie round-up and BYOB reception
Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday mornings are full of break-out
sessions and division meetings. The afternoon general sessions are sure to
challenge, motivate and inspire. There’s something for everyone whether you
are new to blindness or a veteran; a blind student or a blind senior;
parent of a blind child or a blind parent; or a professional in the
blindness field, With sessions on accessing everything from books to
banking, shopping and more on-line, and how to vote privately and
accessibly in Nebraska, you won’t want to miss out. As customary, we’ll
have updates from entities serving the blind like NCBVI, Talking Book and
Braille Services and others. Show off your talent at the showcase Friday
evening or come to cheer on your friends.

You won’t want to miss a minute as there are door prizes to win, knowledge
to be gained and shared and other surprises and fun. Special presentations
from former Nebraskans and other notable Federation leaders and friends.

Speaking of notable friends, we are so pleased to welcome to our first ever
virtual convention the immediate past president of the National Federation
of the Blind, Dr. Marc Maurer! A fierce and consummate lawyer and advocate,
Marc is also a dedicated father and husband. He has accomplished much and
boasts of an impressive biography that you can read here:

All
that being said, I am confident he’d tell you that despite all the honors
and accolades, perhaps his most important title is that of MEMBER of the
National Federation of the Blind.

“You don't have to be a perfect blind person to join us, just someone on
the journey to a better life.” – Norma Crosby, President, NFB of Texas and
Member, Board of Directors, National Federation of the Blind

Join us and learn how we are building today for a better tomorrow!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
