Today marks the first day of spring, and the project team is looking forward to the progress that's soon to come to 16th Street during this season of growth! Below are a few of the project milestones you can expect to see this spring:
* All thirteen blocks between Market Street and Broadway will be under active construction.
* Trees will be planted between Lawrence and Curtis streets. (Blocks 3-4)
* Granite pavers will be completed between Market and Larimer streets. (Block 1)
* Phase 2 of construction will begin between Lawrence and Arapahoe streets. (Block 3)
* Phase 2 of construction will begin on the north side of the block between Arapahoe and Curtis streets. (Block 4)
* Substantial completion will be reached between Larimer and Lawrence streets! (Block 2)
Stay tuned on the project website for frequent updates on current activities and milestone progress<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=d15e9b9968&e=0e4069ae0b>. Each block's schedule and milestones can be viewed in the block-by-block drop downs on the Current Project Activities page<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=8c83fb93b5&e=0e4069ae0b>.
Renovations to Begin Between Cleveland Place
and Broadway
As soon as Monday, March 25, crews and equipment will arrive between Cleveland Place and Broadway (Block 13) to begin Phase 1 of reconstruction work in the block. The first thing you will see is the installation of construction fencing on the entire block between 16th Street, Cleveland Place and Broadway, leaving the south sidewalk open for pedestrians. See the image below for more information.
Here's what you can expect:
* Fencing will surround the work site and include signs to direct pedestrians traveling on the Mall.
* Gates and flaggers will be on-site at intersections to direct drivers and pedestrians as needed.
* See bike detour here<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=f55674513a&e=0e4069ae0b>. Bicyclists who remain on Cleveland Place and East 16th Avenue must dismount and use the crosswalks and sidewalk.
* Business access will be maintained at all times.

The start of reconstruction activity may be noisy at times as sawcutting and demolition breaks up the concrete slab, but the project team will stay within the City’s noise ordinance as we recognize we are working close to businesses and residents.

Expected Work Hours
Workdays and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A noise variance was approved in January 2024 which allows work to take place throughout the night under specific circumstances<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=182f26a985&e=0e4069ae0b>. Affected parties will be notified 7 days in advance if night work will be taking place.
Heavy equipment may operate between hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., any day of the week. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. All project activities and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
Due to schedule and sequencing, not all active blocks will have activities occurring at all times. To see the latest updates on work, you can check the Current Project Activities page on the website<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=abc8fcbc9e&e=0e4069ae0b>.
