Good morning Maryanne & everyone else.
I am continuing to sift through my e-mail messages, and Maryanne thank you for sending the actual bill information, although I am a cane traveler  I do agree and support you and anyone else who chooses to use a dog. Now that I have a copy of what the bill is, I can read that, and write a letter.

I have finally figured out how to use the narrator devise to read my e-mail, so at least now, I'll know what I'm reading. As you all know I have little usable vision, and if an e-mail is more than 2 paragraphs I'm just not reading the whole thing.

Personally I love dogs, and the reason I don't have one, is because I'm afraid, I'd play with the dog more than use it for what it's supposed to be used for, besides I'm lazy, and it's hard enough for me to clean up after myself, I am not responsible enough to own a dog, but having said that. I do believe it's important for those folks who wish, or need to use a dog. Should have the right, I just think if things were explained correctly like you did Maryanne we'd gain more support for our cause.
Thanks again for your help.
Rich

 Awesome!
Yes, we can never have enough people with this kind of spirit!
If we can all converge on the author of this bill, it sounds like she is open to removing Guide dogs from the bill.. Her legislative aide told me yesterday that guide dogs were not even included in the original bill proposal.
She told me on Twitter that she will call me on Monday. I may be the legislative coordinator of the organized Blind movement in Connecticut, but I am only one voice.
If our members are able to call Senator Bartolomeo's legislative aide, Sue Driscoll, and let her know that we want guide dogs removed from the bill, this will encourage her to take it more seriously and do it more quickly.
The phone number which I have used is
(860) 240-0441
You can ask for Sue Driscoll in Senator Bartolomeo's office.
Let's go stick up for our fellow blind people in Connecticut!

I emailed my letter to Senator Brendan Sharkey, Speaker of the House, Senator Martin M. Looney, President Pro Tempore and Governor Malloy.    We really need everyone to step up and at least write their local representatives and senators. Whether you are a guide dog handler or not. We are all blind. I wrote letters regarding sub minimum wage and jobs being threatened in State parks. I get paid more than minimum wage and I do not work in a state park but I am blind and therefore I support my fellow citizens in their struggle. Now as a guide dog user I ask for your support in removing guide dogs from a bill that could dramatically affect my future way of procuring a dog.    Thank you,    Maryanne Melley
