Phil,

Thank you very much for your leadership on the issue of welcoming all Federation members to open meetings. You are absolutely correct, and it is the job of anyone who takes on leadership in the Federation to ensure that our meetings welcome all members.

Following Maryanne’s advice to all of us regarding rumors at our board meeting on September 12, after I heard about the incident on Thursday that you are speaking about, I spoke with the member and can verify that what you described was indeed what that member believes happened. As one who myself has taken on leadership in the Federation, it is my responsibility, too, to speak to this.

Again, it is important that we all welcome our Federation family to any open meeting and that our leaders ensure that we encourage a welcoming environment. Let’s go build the National Federation of the Blind!

Federation Family,

Just a friendly reminder that all members, and their guests, are welcome to join any open chapter or division meeting within our Affiliate. Zoom and conference calling provides all of us with the great opportunity not only to simply join another meeting, but to meet other members, learn, and participate.

Unfortunately, it was brought to my attention that and affiliate member was not so warmly welcomed to it chapter meeting yesterday.

We are only able to move forward as a Federation family if we do so with love, hope, and determination.

In solidarity,

Phil

Respectfully,
