Good evening, CT Federationists,
I hope you’re all doing well and trying to stay cool in this hot weather.
We’re approaching the time for submissions for the Federationist newsletter! I’m excited to announce a cool new addition to this, and all upcoming issues going forward to keep our CT community engaged. So read to the end of the email to find out more.
SUMMER/FALL THEME
In this upcoming issue, I’d like to focus on Independent Living. What that means is that you’ll get a chance to share with us all your knowledge about thriving independently as a blind person. Here are a few examples:
Cooking
Tips & Tricks on cane / guide dog travel
Good ways to practice money management
Those are just a few things you could write about. If you come up with other ideas that I didn’t mention, please feel free to write about those as well. Creativity is encouraged here, so have fun with it.
ANNOUNCEMENT FOR UPCOMING SEGMENT
This next issue will feature a spotlight on chapters and divisions in our affiliate. This community means a lot to all of us, so I thought a cool name for this new addition could be called Connecticut Game Changers.
HOW IT WORKS
There will be 2 categories: chapter/division highlights and affiliate board highlights. I will ask the affiliate president and each chapter/division president to submit one individual to be featured in each Federationist issue. The guidelines are as follows:
Members must be in good standing: a due-paying member who always adheres to the NFB code of conduct
Members must be an active member of the NFB of CT community: attends monthly chapter/division meetings, and is helpful in growing the chapter/division
Everyone loves to be praised. So whatever cool thing(s) a member of your chapter, division, or board has done to support and enhance the success of your chapter, division, and the affiliate at large as a board member, please feel free to share with us.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submissions for articles and highlights should be sent to me no later than Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:59 PM. If needed, an extension will be granted on a case-by-case basis. I’d like to get this issue out by at least mid to late August, or even very early September. Please send submissions to editor.fedct at gmail.com. I get thousands of emails per day, and don’t want to lose anybody’s submissions in the clutter of non-important stuff.
Thank you all for your patience. I can’t wait to see what beautiful edition we come up with together. Let’s make some magic!
Best regards,
Bri
