How to Apply
Important Tips for the Application Process

  1. Our 'Minimum Qualifications' are firm, not flexible. Your resume should clearly demonstrate how you meet both the minimum and preferred qualifications in plain language.
  2. Chronological resumes are the simplest format to measure and assess things like: qualifications, time in position, etc. Experience-based resumes (lacking the timeline) do not allow for equitable comparison.
  3. Check the Career Portal for application status and note that review of resumes may occur after the posting window closes. Remember when a job posting is removed from our website it means we're no longer accepting new applications.

Interested in great benefits?

There are many benefits to working with the State of Minnesota. Here are some of the reasons that 35,000 Minnesotans have decided to make their careers in government service:

The following benefits are available to any state employee whose appointment is at least six months long, whether temporary or permanent.

  * Paid Time Off. Receive a minimum of 13 days of paid vacation, 13 days of sick time, and 12 paid holidays. We do not have a "use-it-or-lose-it" policy and you are permitted to hold up to 275 hours in your vacation bank. Depending upon your employment plan, you may be able to use vacation as deferred compensation.
  * Low-Cost Health Insurance. Family medical premiums are only $286 per month, while individual coverage is $42 per month. Low out of pocket maximum deductibles are available depending on your selected plan.
  * Retirement Plan. A defined benefit pension, which vests for life after 3 years of service, is available to nearly all employees. Read more about our General Employee Retirement Plan<https://links-2.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwww.msrs.state.mn.us%2Fgeneral-plan/1/0101019a0291ed16-8fea403e-2b80-4b1f-81ee-41e9c8f38204-000000/e1a1xxfY5Fhh3hl5m8FsDf_-w_0_u2L60-JyOWJaEHI=427>.
  * Pre-Tax Benefits. We offer many pre-tax benefits for medical and dental expenses, transit, dependent care and other tax-advantaged programs. Pre-Tax benefits are deductions that lower your taxable wages.
