Hello Keystone Chapter Members and Friends,
I hope you all are well and have been enjoying some of this nice weather we have been having!
This Saturday, May 11, 2019 will be our next Keystone Chapter meeting. The meeting starts at 10:15 a.m. and will be held at 1500 Walnut Street in Philadelphia in the 2nd floor conference room. I hope all of you can make it.

Have you ever visited a museum and wished you could touch some of the artifacts on display? Well, at our April meeting last month, members of the chapter had a one of a kind experience exploring the Egyptian Gallery at the Peen Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Members were able to touch, literally, many of the ancient artifacts there, some as old as 4000 years old! This was made possible through a collaboration between the Penn Museum and the Philly Touch Tours. What's more, the Philadelphia Inquirer was there to capture the whole experience. Please read the article about how the Philly Touch Tours work to make this opportunity available to blind and visually impaired people. Here is the link.

If you were not able to join us last month, don't worry. You, too, can take advantage of this experience after our June 2019 chapter meeting, as the Keystone Chapter will once again visit the Penn Museum. We will also be holding our June meeting at the museum. So put it on your calendar right now. The date will be June 8, 2019! Come to the May meeting this Saturday, May 11, to learn all of the details!

After the meeting, the Keystone Chapter will be offering Braille lessons to all those who are interested in acquiring this invaluable blindness skill. So if you are interested in learning Braille, please stay for this special activity afterwards.

Kernel Books - Next, I want to invite all of you to peruse through some of the Kernel Books on the NFB website. These books tell the true story of blind people, their life experiences with blindness, and how they handle blindness at its very core. These are authentic personal accounts of real blind people. You can read the text or audio versions of these stories. Here is the link to the Kernel Books. https://archive.nfb.org/kernel-books If you find a particular story that you would like to share for discussion at a future meeting, please send me an email with the name of the Kernel Book along with the title of the story.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a wonderful week!
Harriet
