Hey there, Keystone Chapter Members and Friends,

We had a packed house for our December meeting and holiday party at the Penn Museum on Saturday! We listened to Presidential Release #533 <https://nfb.org/sites/nfb.org/files/2023-12/presidential_release_december_2023_chapter_version.mp3>. We also had a presentation from a group of Penn students who are working on a device to help blind and low vision people measure out the correct amount of any liquid medication. They even brought a prototype for us to check out!

After the meeting we enjoyed hoagies from Primo’s, chips, cookies and other goodies during our holiday party. Nine of us participated in a White Elephant gift exchange, which is always a lot of fun. Surprisingly, there were no gag gifts this year. 

2024 Membership Dues

We found out earlier this year that the NFB of PA Constitution requires chapter membership dues to be paid by December 31 of the prior year. What does this mean? If you want to be a voting member of the Keystone Chapter, your 2024 dues must be received by December 31, 2023. Dues are $10. The chapter gets $5, and the NFB of PA gets $5 for your membership. There are a few ways you can pay. You can give me cash or a check when you see me. Nominating Committee

A Nominating Committee has been formed to gather names for the Keystone Chapter board. All board positions are up for election at our January 13 meeting. Jim Antonacci is the chair of the committee. If you are interested in a board position or know of someone who may be a perfect fit, contact Jim at nfbpatr at gmail.com <mailto:nfbpatr at gmail.com>. Remember, to be eligible to hold a board position and to vote in our election, you need to be a dues paying member of the chapter.

2023 State Convention

Harriet gave a summary of our State Convention last month in Harrisburg. As always, it was great connecting with old friends and meeting new ones, learning about new products and services in the exhibit hall, and being inspired by our National Rep, Pam Allen along with all of the speakers. The vacant position of First Vice President was filled by someone you may know. Me. It was announced that next year’s State Convention will be held Nov. 7-10 in Erie.
