Accessible Materials Specialist

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is recruiting an Accessible Materials Specialist.  This individual will translate or transcribe instructional materials into literary or textbook Braille format.  Will be responsible for analyzing instructional material orders to determine the most appropriate alternate format in which to create the materials.  Will be responsible for scanning the hard copies of the materials or downloading them from the appropriate source and binding the final draft of the book.  National Library of Science literacy Braille certification required or working toward.  This is a 12‑month position. Applications accepted until filled.

 

Residential Life Assistant

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting a full-time evening Residential Life Assistant.  Will be required to provide individual and group guidance services related to scholastic, educational, personal hygiene and social skill development to students who are blind/visually impaired, with/without other impairments.  Full-time nine month evening position: 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm.  Evening shift will be required to become Braille proficient. Applications accepted until filled.
