[Nfbc-info] Accessible Point-of-Sale Machines

A few years ago, the NFBC worked hard to legislate the change in how a low
vision or blind individual could access a POI, which would include a keypad
along with the touch screen. It's a matter of following the law and the fact
of one having the choice on how they want to perform their transactions.
When there is only a touch screen, I have no choice and need to perform a
credit transaction. I am not saying that I won't need sighted assistance
when completing a transaction, but it's nice to be able to keep certain
parts of the transactions private. I guess this is one of my pet peas and a
loss to privacy, which has always troubled me. There are just things that I
like to have control over and the lack of control with privacy is a battle
that I will have to overcome.

Thanks for listening & I value my independence greatly, so maybe that's why
I brought up the issue about inaccessible POIs.

Cheers,

I guess it depends a lot on what constitutes a "problem."

I often need someone's help to complete a transaction, either selecting
credit/debit, or entering my PIN, or showing me where to sign.

In places like "Fresh and Easy" where they don't have cashiers, I need to
get the courtesy clerk who showed around the store to also scan my items.

I don't actually view any of these situations as a problem, but it's
possible they're not obeying the law.
