Good Afternoon Everyone:

I would like to share information with you regarding website accessibility.
Please find an excellent article written by Christina Samuels entitled
Website Accessibility: Ten Things School Districts Should Know. This can be
found at:
ngs_school_districts.html>
http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/speced/2016/08/website_accessibility_ten_thin
gs_school_districts.html. In addition, please find the attached letter from
the U.S. Department of Education to McLean County in Western Kentucky.
McLean County, along with several other counties in Kentucky, has been found
in violation of failing to meet proper compliance regarding accessibility
standards. It has been communicated that KDE, Jefferson County and KSB are
among those to have received this letter. KATS has offered to assist these
school districts in their quest to become compliant. Lastly, this
correspondence is from Program manager, Jimmy Brown from the KATS Network...
All,

As a follow up to our conversation at the KATS Advisory Council meeting, I
wanted to make you aware that our national technical assistance provider has
produced a series of archived webinars on digital media accessibility. These
webinars are available free of charge at:
http://www.ataporg.org/ICTWebinars/Default. I am also attaching a flyer for
the webinar series. Please feel free to share with other interested parties.
On the webinar page you will also find links to their Web Accessibility
Newsletter(s).

Thanks,

Jimmy Brown
