Greetings all:



Want something to do during this time of social distancing and our state 
stay at home order while learning more about the National Federation of the 
Blind?



If yes, participate in the New Jersey NFB Book Club, sponsored by the Sports 
and Recreation Division. and moderated by Jane Degenshein on Wednesday, 
April 15 at 10:10 am on the Technology Conference call line.



This quarter’s book club is “Life without sight: my journey into the world 
of the sighted and the blind” by Agnes Allen; NLS Book Number DBC01887; 
reading time 3 hours, 18 minutes; A memoir of a blind woman’s road to 
success in overcoming life’s obstacles.



Agnes Allen, co-founded in 1991 the National Federation of the Blind of New 
Jersey’s Garden State Chapter and served as a loyal Federationist in New 
Jersey and Connecticut. Her passion for literacy is second to none and she 
continued to teach Braille well into her 90’s.




For the past several years, the NFBNJ has presented the Agnes Allen 
Distinguish Service Award during the state convention banquet. This award is 
presented to a non member, agency or organization that promotes the 
philosophy of the Federation to raise expectations to live the life we want!
