[NFBofSC] Dorothy Barksdale passes

Miss Barksdale has been through a lot and through it she always made a point to praise God, thank him, and made sure to tell us all what he has done in her life. I just think back to my last conversation with her about a week ago. She was a strong woman of great faith in God.

 

She will definitely be missed.

I have just received word that longtime Columbia Chapter member, Dorothy Barksdale has passed.  She was the first African-American to join the NFB of SC about 5 decades ago.  She also served as Secretary for the Columbia Chapter, Federation Center of the Blind, NFB of SC state board and the Rocky Bottom board.  As Chairperson of the We Care Committee, Dorothy Barksdale cared for many of our members and others.  She also was recognized on the Columbia Housing Authority's Wall of Fame.  She will need to be replaced for the upcoming Devotional and Memorial Service at the state convention.  Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.
