Hello. Until Jaws can be purchased, perhaps the student may wish to look
into the free NVDA screen reader, available from www.nvaccess.org. There is
no license and no trial period. Once downloaded it can run indefinitely and
can also be installed on a USB flash drive so that the student can carry his
or her settings with her anywhere and simply plug the drive into a computer
and begin using NVDA. It has most of the features of jaws and the keyboard
layout is very similar. Also, additional voice may be downloaded and/or
purchased as well.

Subject: [Trainer-talk] jaws usage information
Good morning. I just started working at a community college as a tutor
and would like to install jaws. One of the students I am tutoring is also
totally blind and uses jaws. Will the student need to install his version on
a different computer to access school material, or could he use jaws on my
computer? Should the college just buy jaws? Thank you.
Sarah
