Eileen and others,

Lanie Feingold and Linda Dardarian, two attorneys in California, have actually entered into a number of agreements with large retail chains requiring them to make their point-of-sale devices accessible with keypads. Two recent chains added to the list were Staples and Target. You can see a full list of the agreements they've reached at http://lflegal.com/negotiations/#agreements. If you have suggestions for other businesses that they should approach on this issue, I'd suggest following up with them directly through Lanie's website.

Best,
Karla Gilbride

I continue to follow the postings, but I agree that the POS touch screens in several stores continue to be inaccessible. Maybe this is where our energies should be placed next, since the NFBC and NFB had passed resolutions to resolve this issue. With the Nano IPod, it is accessible, along with Apple improving the ITune web page for individuals with visual impairments or blindness to have equal access to them.

Actually,

Apple is making iTunes and iPods accessible under agreements reached after the Target litigation was settled.

I would like to see us continue after Target and other organizations for continuing to use touch screen POS machines at checkout counters.

Now that some of us are receiving checks from the NFB V. TARGET lawsuit, what about all these other inaccessible web sites and products?

What about Apple? Their iTunes software, iTunes store, iPod, and iPhone all have access problems.

Who is pushing apple? Do we have a law suit underway?

Thanks,
